Jolín what a great week. It feels sooooo good to be with my new comp. We´re on exactly the same level, the same wave-length, same station, what ever you want to call it. Elder Allsop is the best. He´s got a lot of really great ideas for the work, he knows how to teach, and he´s willing and full of desire! Those last two are crucial because they´ll either make or break your companionship. DyC 64:34 says it all. Anyway, he´s a stellar missionary. He´s from Bountiful Utah, the first missionary in his family and we are going to do WORK together.
So he arrived Wednesday and we started off meeting all the members in our area. They were all excited to have a new missionary, and elder Allsop has connections with a lot of them because of his previous area (my beloved Jaén). We desperately need to find new investigators and so we came up with a plan as to how we´re going to do it with the members. I love his ideas and the ability he has to think outside the box. I feel really good about the direction we´re taking, all we need is a little time and we´re going to start seeing fruits. Seriously though, when you get a companion like this missionary work is the greatest thing on the planet. I¨m super excited.
We had an interesting run in with the grandpa of the two boys that we are teaching. We had tried passing by several times in the week, but every time we went we found them "locked" in their house and unable to let us in. Saturday evening we came across thier grandpa and he told us we can´t visit them because the niños are sick. I felt like he didn´t like us from the beginning so I asked him if he just wanted us to stop coming and he yelled at us "Yes! stop coming over and bothering my family!" and then promptly rode off on his bicycle. Weird. So we went over anyway and talk the kids and the mom and it turns out that he´s just a grumpy old man and a little crazy. They still want us to visit them, so that´s a blessing. One of the kids is currently recovering from apendicitis which is no fun, but they still have lots of potential to be baptized. Please pray for them that they will be able to get baptized in the month of July!
The whole zone recieved a lot of changes this transfer, and there are a lot of older really strong missionaries in the zone. There have already been improvements in a lot of areas in the zone and I¨m really looking forward to how the following transfer goes. I just love seeing the Lord´s formula for success put to work. Obedience + hard work + faith = miracles or in other words, success!
Last thing is something I learned from my compstudy recently. Elder Allsop and I have decided to study and dissect the beatitudes. Of all the things He could have said in the first one, and of all the blessings He could have promised, it´s interesting to note what the Savior said in the first beatitude. "Blessed are the poor in spirit that come unto me, for theirs in the kingdom of heaven." (3 Ne 12:3) He´s talking about humilty, and for the humble, their gift is the greatest gift! Humility is the gateway to a happier, more peaceful and content life, and opens the door for us to aquire more Christlike attributes. So let us all strive to be more humble. I´m not talking about timid or shy, but aware of our weakness and our dependance upon the Lord and Heavenly Father.
Anyways, this week is going to be awesome, we don´t have a lot of time in our area, pero bueno. We´re going to work hard anyways and strive for the Standards! Friday we will have a zone conference in Sevilla with President and Hermana Deere. On the fourth of July. God bless America. I hope you all enjoy the holiday this week end and eat lots of barbequed food for me, I´ll probably be having paella. I love you all so much! Talk to you next week!
